江須崎/Esuzaki
- Natural Monument (National Designation)
- Yoshino-Kumano National Park
Details
The island is geologically characterized by cliffs formed from wave impact, leaving a flat center. Influenced by the warm Kuroshio Current, the island supports a diverse warm-climate flora, including the dense vine Hakamakazura, creating a unique environment. The entire island is the sacred forest of Kasuga Shrine, and locals have long believed that nothing must be removed from the island.
