Details
Waroda refers to a mat woven of straw and other materials into a spiral shape to sit on. Legend has it that the deities of the three Kumano Grand Shrines gathered here and sat on this rock to talk. The sanskrit symbols for those gods are carved in the moss-covered rock. It’s sedimentary rock, and its stripes indicate that it was formed through horizontal accumulation of sand at the bottom of the sea.
