Details
In this steep gorge carved up to 300 meters in the hard bedrock, rare plants are found in primeval nature. Fir and hemlock are found at low elevations, which is rare on the Kii Peninsula. Also rare and found here are Kii-jourou-hototogisu (Tricyrtis macranthopsis), a species of lily, and Kurumagiku (Aster tenuipes), a species of aster, endemic to the southern Kii Peninsula.
