下尾井の河岸段丘/Shimooi no Kaigandankyu
- Yoshino-Kumano National Park
Details
Along the Kitayama River there is a slightly elevated flat area that used to be the riverbed or riverbank. The area was eroded and flattened by the river, but later the river changed courrse and the land was left as flat land. Such landforms are called river terraces. Ruins from the Jomon period can be seen on the terraces in Shimooi, indicating that people have been living there since ancient times.
