- Historic Site (National Designation)
Details
This keyhole-shaped burial mound, built in the latter half of the 4th century, is the southernmost one on Honshu. It was built on a sand dune on a small coastal plain, and is slightly higher in elevation than the plain. Its existence indicates that a powerful family was living in this region at that time.
