The Sasabigawa-keikoku Ravine
篠尾川渓谷/Sasabigawa-keikoku
Details
In this valley, the sedimentary strata that form the foundation of the Kii Peninsula are visible. They were formed at the bottom of the deep sea, in alternating layers of sandstone and mudstone. In the upper reaches of the river where the more easily eroded mudstone was distributed widely, it eroded into a wide valley where people formed the settlement of Sasabi.
