The Unconformity in Sasabi
篠尾の不整合/Sasabi no Fuseigo
Details
This feature is known as an unconformity, where two layers of rock differ in age despite being adjacent one another. Here they differ by tens of millions of years. This is caused by younger sediment being deposited on top of older rock, and then turning to rock itself. It suggests that there were intense crustal movements caused by plate tectonics during that period.
