Sarashikubi Stratum
サラシ首層/Sarashikubi-so
- Yoshino-Kumano National Park
Details
At first glance, rocks of various size appear to be lying on the beach, but in fact they are partially exposed parts of the same bedrock. This is a stratum where mud carried by undersea mudslides, and rocks caught in the slide, have hardened together. The mudstone surrounding the rocks erodes more quickly, resulting in this strange landscape.
