Details
This beach was formed from sand and rocks carried down the Kumano River, and distributed by the ocean waves. Sea turtles visit the beach every year to lay their eggs. Ojigahama Beach is also a place of purification, and on the day of the Oto Matsuri Festival, a Nationally Designated Important Intangible Cultural Property, a ceremony of purification with the sea water called “Shiogori” is held.
