Details
The Ogumotori-goe and Kogumotori-goe paths are part of the Kumano Kodo, which is registered as a World Heritage “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range”. These paths are important sections of the Kumano Kodo that connect the Kumano Hongu Taisha and Kumano Nachi Taisha grand shrines. The Ogumotori-goe is one of the most difficult sections of the Kumano Kodo because it crosses a steep mountain made of hard igneous rock. On the other hand, Kogumotori-goe traverses a mountain made of sedimentary rock and is a gentler path.
