鳴石/Naruishi
- prefectural natural park
Details
The Kii Shoku Fudoki, a book written in the Edo era (1603-1867), states that the sound of a river flowing nearby echoes loudly and reverberates off this rock. And so it was called Naruishi, or sound-making rock. The name of the surrounding area was also changed to Narukawa for that reason.
