Details
Nachi Waterfall, Japan’s tallest single-tier waterfall at 133 meters, was created where hard, erosion-resistant igneous rock meets softer sedimentary rock, which was eroded away. The waterfall itself is revered as a sacred entity, with Hiro-jinja Shrine located in front. This is a separate shrine from Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine. It hosts the Nachi Fan Festival, a nationally recognized intangible folk cultural property.
