Details
Dominating the local landscape, this towering monolith stands 100 m tall and 500 m wide without a single fissure. Formed from pyroclastic rock solidified from volcanic ash during massive eruptions 15 million years ago, Ichimai-iwa features a shadow resembling a giant dog every April and August, inspiring local folklore about the “Guardian Dog of Kozagawa.”
