Hashigui-iwa Rocks stretch like vertical stakes over 850 meters in a straight line from north to south, made of igneous rock, magma that intruded upward into sedimentary rock strata and solidified. Later, the softer sedimentary rocks around it were eroded, revealing the igneous rocks. Scattered near Hashiguiiwa are rocks called “tsunami-ishi,” suggesting they were moved by tsunami generated by massive earthquakes.
