Details

Daimonzaka Slope is a part of Kumano Kodo, which is registered as a World Cultural Heritage site under “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.” The path is renowned for its exquisite stone pavements, predominantly crafted from sandstone sourced from nearby strata, formed from sand that settled on the ocean floor about 16 million years ago. Evidence of ancient sea life such as burrows can still be observed in some stones.
