The River Terrace in Shimoayukawa
下鮎川の河岸段丘/Shimoayukawa no Kagandankyu
Details
The flat, elevated terrain along the Tonda River was originally part of the riverbed or riverbank. Due to changes in the river’s course, it ceased to be eroded and remained as flat land. Such landforms are referred to as river terraces. The river terrace at Shimoayukawa consists of three tiers. The second tier, which is the broadest, is currently utilized as farmland.
