Details
Engetsuto Island is made of conglomerate rock of gravel and sand. Wave erosion has opened a hole in the middle through which the sunset near the spring and autumn equinoxes is visible, making it a popular tourist spot and symbol of Shirahama Town. Its actual name is ‘Takashima,’ but everyone knows it by Engetsuto, which means Full Moon Island.
