堀切の滝

Horikiri Falls

堀切の滝/Horikiri no Taki

Details

In Kushimoto Town, on the Tsugagawa River, a man-made waterfall stands about 4 meters high. The waterfall was created when the bedrock was excavated to change part of the river’s flow from a large curve to a straight line. After the flow was changed, the original site was used as farmland. The time of construction is not certain, but it is believed to have been completed by the middle of the Meiji era (1868-1912) at the latest.
