Details
Cape Shionomisaki is a spot where complex volcanic activity took place, involving various magmas of different compositions. The coastline is a great place to observe these rocks. For example, the blackish and whitish rocks illustrate its complexity. Pillow lava, created when magma erupts underwater and cools quickly, can be seen on the beach below Shionomisaki Lighthouse.
