- prefectural natural park
Details
This quarry produced Utsugi stone, a type of pyroclastic rock solidified from volcanic ash, created during large-scale volcanic activity about 15 million years ago. Due to its ease of processing, this rock has historically been utilized for constructing fences, walls, and even lighthouses, being transported downstream by boat from nearby rivers.
