This island is an islet of northern and southern 130m, eastern and western 35m and the height 25m which float on a seaside inlet (for an official name, Takashima). The whole island continues from Bansho-no-saki Point on the north side, it’s done at new conglomerate relatively, in a central part, that a wave erosion cave entrance is gapingly, open. Kinki-district in Japanese weasels is the only propagation cave for sea cave near Senjojiki RockPlateau.
A sea cliff of about 50 m of height a thick sandstone bed in the Tanabe Group upper part bed where it accumulated makes forearc basin. Sea cave is formed into the lower part. Several mine marks are located in northern extension in Karekinada arc-shaped dike, and exists in the circumference. A deposit ingredient begins to soak from a sandstone bed in the cave, and there is a discoloring part in dark brown. A legend of the Kumano navy is left.
This rock face is from thick sandstone and a stratum in conglomerate of Tanabe Group upper part layer, you can watch “worm-eaten spot” weathering carefully in a part in conglomerate. A lot of dents crowd like a bee hive in a rock face. This bee hive-like weathering is called Tafoni, and it’s thought that it’s done by saline dissolution and separation in the stratum.
The means of escape which is at the time of the damage and a tidal wave raid of a Hoei earthquake (1707) was written down. A villager of Takase village (present Tonda, Shirahama Town) requested a tidal wave experience from a chief bonze in a thatched hut temple, and you wrote it, and it was offered up to Asuka-jinja shrine. It was transferred to Nichi-jinja Shrine in case of shrine joint worship in 1909.

Trace fossil is also seen.
The upper part layer of the Tanabe Group which accumulated is distributed over forearc basin. It’s possible to see and observe the sedimentary structure peculiar to accumulated stratum in a shallow sea such as oblique bedding and a Ripples mark in Mikusa-zaki Point. A fossil of a shellfish, a whale and a crab is found. The inside which is a stratum formerly in an opposite shore in port, mud, several, it’s possible to observe 100 m of mud piercing fold which rose.
The spa where you’re seeing a white heron curing a bruise of the foot in the middle in the Edo Period and are telling that it was found. Like Shirahama Onsen, it’s located on the northern extension in Karekinada arc-shaped dike, and I’m gushing from Tanabe Group upper part layer.

When it’s spouted in the bottom of the sea and the surface of the earth, this will be a mud volcano. A secular mud volcano is learned about at Kumano-nada (the bottom of the sea) and Hokkaido Niikappu (land).
A stratum of Tanabe Group which accumulated in forearc basin exposes to a vast wave cut shelf, and it’s famous as Senjojiki RockPlateau in Shihara. The alternation of sandstone and mudstone piled on the occasion of sandstone and mudstone is distributed, and a coastal landform of a sea cliff, sea cave and a wave food shelf develops. Trace fossil is seen by a stratum much. Murashima Iso of the seashore south can observe the stratum toward which Tanabe Group lower part layer inclined.
