Here you can observe an unconformity of the Otonashigawa accretionary prism which forms the base of the Kii Peninsula, and on that, the Kumano stratum that piled up on the forearc basin. There are tens of millions of year difference between these two layers of earth, and you can feel how intense the movement must have been during these millions of years.
