At the Gongen-zaki Point, you can see the mudstone dike where the muddy lower layer of the Tanabe strata had penetrated the upper layer. Way back then when the Tanabe strata had formed, earthquakes had caused the deep underground mud to liquefy and seep into the strata that changed into mud diapirs. You can see all kinds of landforms from wave-cut terraces to sea cliffs along this mudstone dike.
